Here are my 10 awesome hacks that I have formulated from my own experience to rock a super cool maternity look with your existing wardrobe!

1. Size Up to Accommodate the bump

This is probably the hardest thing you will have to do. Buying a size up from your current size. Trust me on this, you will be thankful later. I agree it comes with sloppy shoulders and ill-fitting chest (happened to me) but the bump will thank you for the space. You can always adjust the other features with accessories like a belt. So, don’t be afraid to try those up-sized clothes you had in your wardrobe. I even took up a shirt from my partners wardrobe to pair with my sweater- the results were fab!

2. Unbuttoned Blazers with Fitted top

Another way to rock you existing wardrobe in pregnancy is to rock those blazers!

Wont my bump pop out? Yes! It will and that will make it all the more cute!

No, wearing a loose tunic with it is not the point! That just makes you look like a tent. Keep them unbuttoned and wear your fitted vests to rock that blazer look.

3. Buy a Maternity Support Belt

This is probably the best product I have bought in my entire pregnancy. I got the Mothercare Support Belt that comes in S, M and L sizes. For those who have used it, knows that I am talking sense when I say you can use this as a perfect accessory to your maternity dressing. You can use it as an extender to your T-shirts that have started going higher from your waist-line. It gives you support while walking with a heavy bump and adds grace to your walk (I mean the penguin waddle!!) It also pulls in your dress together and also hides that belly button that may have decide to pop out.

4. Stretch your Jean with DIY Hack

This I owe to Pinterest for teaching me how to make my existing wardrobe jeans work through pregnancy. While you are pregnant, your jeans doesn’t fit you at the waist. All you need is solutions to tackle this funny bit. That humble hair tie is the solution to your woes. Loop it through the hole on the waistline to use it as an extension loop around the jean button. As months went by, I used the maternity belt as a cover to a jean which was totally unbuttoned!

5. Invest in Bra Extenders

These are pretty basic and useful stuff available in amazon.in . Well, during pregnancy or not, there is nothing as unflattering as ill-fit lingerie. Invest in one of these babies to continue using your existing wardrobe lingerie during your pregnancy too. If there are drastic changes in your body, I would always advise you to go for a fitting session and find better fitting lingerie.

6. Stitch an Elastic Band to Jeans/ Shorts

Want to make your usual jean work throughout pregnancy without buying a maternity jean? Stitch a soft elastic band to the hip of your regular jean to act as extensions. This can be more comfortable than a hair tie and you can rock your existing wardrobe throughout the pregnancy.

7. Invest in Good quality Leggings & Pencil Skirts

Needless to say- your leggings will be your comfort wear all through pregnancy. I recommend getting good quality pencil skirts too. I found them to turn even an oversize sweater to a chic pregnancy outfit!

8. Maxi Dresses are Maternity Staples

I haven’t always been a maxi dress fan- till I got pregnant! Suddenly I find that they look fabulous with the bump! I definitely recommend you to get a few maxi dresses- they are pregnancy staples and help you post pregnancy too!

9. Accentuate bump with Belts

Belts! Belts! Belts!

You just cant have enough of them! They help you accentuate your bump and make you look cute while being pregnant. It is a wonderful way to rock you existing wardrobe to add a belt above the bump. It helps dress the bump, and let you wear a loose fitting tee!

10. Shift Dresses are your new BFF

Seen Kate Middleton rocking shift dresses throughout her second pregnancy? Yes, Shift dresses are subtle ways to hide your bump (if you please) and still look great. It allows enough room for the bump to grow, yet not making you look like a tent. You can use then through your pregnancy and after!
